October 2008 - Hi Sarah,
Well I am delighted to report that our TTouch
has already come in extremely useful. My mum and I went to the pound to pick up our latest
foster (a saluki x lurcher girl). Well she was terrified of us. She shoved herself into
the back corner of her pen and excreted where she was, poor girl. I gave her some ear work
and some leopard touches, and then coaxed her out of the pen using the gentle lead
stroking technique.
Stupidly when I got her into the exercise area
I decided to let her have a sniff round and get used to us, before taking her out. She ran
straight into one of the outdoor pens which was open and stacked up with old beds, and she
shot behind them into the back corner so I had to start all over again...but wait we
thought...we have another technique to try yet!!! I had already bought a horses tail
bandage as Bob rather likes his wrap and lifts (and so do we!!) and we had brought it with
us just in case as we had no knowledge of this dog...well I gave her a wrap and within a
very short time...probably a minute or two.... she was like a different dog. It was
AMAZING the difference.
She came out with the gentle lead stroking and
then I took her straight out to the car. She has been absolutely fine since. We left the
wrap on for a few hours. When I took it off she got restless and excited even though she
had been out and walked etc. So I left her without for an hour then put it back on
as soon as it was back on she settled under my desk where I was working...superb. We
continued with leopard touch and occasional ear strokes through the evening. We are
mightily impressed. We have not wrapped her today just done some strokes and Clouded
Leopard TTouch on her.
Cleo(patra) is now so lovely and happy. She is
very well behaved, brilliant on and off lead. She has "eye makeup" on and is
very regal looking in true Saluki style! She is affectionate and full of fun. I am so
pleased we were able to help her.
